Brazil is a paradise for visitors since the country has such a diverse offering. Incredible beaches, jungle, cold weather in the hills, adventure, desert landscapes and mega cities are just a rare of the things awaiting visitors to Brazil. Even traveling from the south to the north is a different experience due to the unique cultures initiate in a country of its size. In fact, this diversity can even be a identity shock for Brazilians themselves traveling their own country. When it comes to finding LGBTQ+ friendly destinations in Brazil, the options are quite varied, but they are mainly located along the east coast and in major capitals, even inland. In September Instagram pushed me a upload by Travel Gay, a website listing the best homosexual bars, nightclubs, saunas, spas, beaches, shops and more, along with interesting move ideas and fabulous offers. There I saw the undated post (date your articles and posts, people) LGBTQ+ Solo Travel: the Optimal Cities to Visit? by Adam Reid. Being a solo gay traveller, it caught my attention.
Now, while Im still very much a homosexual, it has been a while since I last travelled solo. My last solo trip was Tel Aviv in Since then, Ive travelled with Danny, Oriol, Steve, Philippe, Nicolas, Thanh, my sister Florence. Sorry for the radio silence here, but after having returned home to the USA for the holidays, I’ve had a lot of time to consider and to reflect — mostly about the past year and a bit about the future. And in making some of my plans for the next year, I’ve idea a lot about the past year.
Namely the truth that it’s probably been my gayest year ever. Is that even a thing? Who knows. I don’t care. But I feel like this was an important year for gay rights, and also for my own interest in gay travel.

Yeah, that topic again. Commute is travel, yes. But this year I’ve also realized just how many of my own trips and experiences are almost certainly chosen because of my own sexual choice. Where I’ve traveled to isn’t necessarily anything to do with the fact that I’m gay, I guess, but these are the places that I’ve found that are actually great for other gay travelers prefer myself—either solo or for gay couples.
